Presence
The acclaimed director challenges his film-making abilities with this innovative ghostly tale captured wholly through the eyes of the phantom. As a family including mother Rebekah plus Callina Liang as Chloe occupies their recent residence, the camera – as the unseen entity – shadows their actions. The teen shows signs of conscious of the poltergeist, and it looks like defensive toward her. However, the motive remains? This is an entertaining concept that doesn't outstay its welcome, with a twist that may be unexpected. October 11th, 4.35pm, 10.10pm, Sky Cinema Premiere

This Creepy Thriller
The director's locked-room horror holds up well even without a sequel. Located in 1978 Denver, multiple kidnappings has rendered the youth frightened. After Finney is kidnapped by the villain and imprisoned in a dungeon, he dreads a fatal end. Yet the old telephone on the wall repeatedly calls, with ghostly voices giving advice, as the prophetic visions from his sibling Gwen may be his salvation. A solid creepfest. The Eyes of Tammy Faye
In the battle between spirituality and money, the winner is obvious for Mammon in Showalter's brilliantly over-the-top film adaptation of the disgraced TV preacher and her felon spouse. Andrew Garfield plays the venal Jim, who declares initially, claiming divine approval for wealth. He and Tammy Faye commence profiting from the people's religious faith. It's a spectacle of poor styling, overdone appearance and insincerity, however Jessica Chastain succeeds to present the character as a sympathetic figure. Tuesday 14 October, late night, on Film4
