Toy Story 5 Teaser Pits The Beloved Duo Versus a Digital Device

It has been 30 anniversary since the first Toy Story film was released, launching the animation giant as a leading film company and introducing viewers to beloved characters like Woody (the actor) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.

In 2026, the fifth installment is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed this week, providing a brief look into the plot but leaving fans curious how it will address the ending of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Frightens the Toys

In the teaser shows Bonnie — who received Andy's toys when he left for college — receiving a brand new toy, one that alarms the familiar toy group. Bonnie gets her first tablet computer, and she is thrilled about it.

Presumably, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the toys appear to consider it as a threat coming to replace them, which it probably is.

Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4

An element the teaser avoids is what the sheriff is returned with his friends in Bonnie's room. The end of Toy Story 4 saw him set off on a fresh journey with the shepherdess (the actress), journeying with a carnival and helping giveaway items find good homes.

Certainly, Pixar will explain the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him appear in the familiar setting without warning is a little strange, though. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have come back with him. And where is Duke Caboom (the star)?

Continuity from the Previous Film

At the very least, some aspects are carrying over from the prior film. The last thing Woody did before departing for his new life was pass his sheriff badge to the cowgirl (Joan Cusack), leaving her in charge of the toy domain. The clip shows the badge pinned to her outfit.

It is hoped she is remains the driving force among the group.

Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on June 19, 2026.
